1) What is GenoSure® MG?
GenoSure® MG is an HIV-1 genotypic resistance assay which combines the best features of LabCorp’s GenoSure® assay and Monogram’s GeneSeq® assay.
2) What are some of GenoSure® MG’s features?
Some of the features are:
3) Is GenoSure® MG a virtual phenotype? What is the difference?
Genosure® MG is not a virtual phenotype. GenoSure® MG does not provide a “prediction” of fold change which is a requirement for virtual phenotyping. GenoSure® MG has a single cutoff which is based on phenotypic outcome datasets.
4) When should I use GenoSure® MG?
GenoSure® MG should be used for the same clinical situations in which GeneSeq® or GenoSure® is used. The Department of Health and Human Services, International AIDS Society, and the American Academy of HIV Medicine each provide guidelines for the use and frequency of HIV-1 resistance testing for the selection of antiretroviral regimens.
5) If I had a GeneSeq® in the past, should a new GenoSure® MG be ordered?
The use of GenoSure® MG should be considered if clinically necessary. Retesting is not recommended unless there is a change in clinical conditions that warrants a new resistance test.
